Costa Calida, the warm coast, offers excellent beaches and weather. The region's capital is Murcia, founded in 831 by the Moors, who irrigated the plains around the River Segura. The Manga strip is made up of a huge natural breakwater which creates a massive, warm and shallow lagoon.
